For the fifth year, PAL Ottawa will have a contingent of walkers in the annual Pride Parade who will publicize the work of our organization to the thousands of onlookers lining the street.
We will be passing out our eye-catching bookmarks again. The Pride Parade (which is definitely the funnest, most colourful parade of the year) takes place on Sunday afternoon, August 26 and travels a little more than a kilometre through downtown Ottawa. A vehicle for anyone who needs to ride will accompany the team.
Our entry into the parade is sponsored by ACTRA this year. We are usually the only organization in the over one hundred groups who have our own live music, a rousing Dixieland quartet, thanks to the Musicians’ Association.
Anyone who would like to participate (and who wouldn’t?) can contact Jim McNabb (firstname.lastname@example.org; 613-742-6215) for more info and where to meet and what to wear.
Our group will be forming at 12:30pm on Bank St. somewhere between Gladstone and Catherine. Sorry, we can’t be more specific because we won’t know where they will place us until we get there. You will identify us by the large PAL banner. Jim’s cell number is 613-301-8192. If you plan to join us, please be sure to let Jim McNabb know by Saturday the 25th at the latest so we can organize our team.
