(Special thanks to Jim McNabb for this report and the pictures)

On a somewhat cloudy Sunday afternoon, Aug. 26, PAL Ottawa joined hundreds of marchers and floats from approximately 150 organizations in the annual Pride Parade.

This event is a celebration of diversity and acceptance in our community and drew an estimated 100,000 enthusiastic onlookers along the route. This was the largest parade in Pride’s history and PAL was very proud to be part of it.

PAL takes part to raise the awareness of our work and aspirations by passing out bookmarks and brochures along the route. We had a colourful contingent of 20 ‘PALs’ including a Dixieland quartet sponsored by the Musicians’ Association of Ottawa-Gatineau who have been a part of our group for the last 6 years.  As well as the generous support of MAOG we want to thank ACTRA who contributed to the entry fee into the Parade. We hope to be back next year. Count on joining us for a good time.
