PAL Ottawa on CKCU FM

Back in January, PAL Ottawa took to the airwaves to talk all about affordable housing for senior arts workers in Ottawa. Possibly to some peoples' surprise, the interview also featured live music from PAL Ottawa's Chair, Leah Cogan!

The position of Chair of the Board for PAL Ottawa is mandated for an artist. While Leah has incredibly valuable expertise and knowledge in community development and affordable housing, she is also an actor and a musician, performing often with her husband Chris as the duo Willow and the Deep.

The interview in January featured Leah and Chris along with local musician Chas Guay in studio at Carleton University for CKCU's program, Canadian Spaces. The three of them performed original songs and covers, including a lovely duet of a Lynn Miles song, 'Goodbye'. Leah had a great discussion with hosts Chris White and Carolyn Sutherland about the realities that many artists face in order to have a sustainable career in the arts. Leah stated simply, "if folks have a house and they have support, then they can create." This sentiment clearly sums up the mission of PAL Place. We want to support senior artists and arts workers so that they can continue creating.

We encourage you to listen to this episode of Canadian Spaces and share it with friends!
